Counseling
The mission of the Scituate Public Schools’ School Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program of services that promotes the academic, social/emotional, and career potential of all students.
Through counseling, advocacy, collaboration, leadership, and systemic change, counselors empower students to become lifelong learners and responsible community members and to achieve personal excellence.
Counseling services are available to all students and families to assist with educational, vocational, and social-emotional concerns. School Counselors and Adjustment Counselors provide a variety of services, including the delivery of school counseling curriculum in accordance with the Massachusetts School Counselors Association.
Counselors also offer individual student planning, crisis response, and responsive services such as individual or small group counseling. Indirect services are also provided on behalf of students and families, which can include referrals to outside agencies, advocacy, connection to resources, and collaboration with staff.
Counselors epitomize individualized learning by helping develop a successful academic experience that meets each student and family's individual goals and objectives.
In addition, Counselors chair Section 504 Plans for students and participate in Student Support Teams, which create, implement, and monitor a variety of interventions to support struggling students.
Please reach out to your child’s School Counselor or Adjustment Counselor for more information on available support to meet the unique needs of each student and family.
